Your book on pirates called Life Among the Pirates (Way People Live) was really interesting and followed in the vein of articles I have written for our local paper. Living near the former territory of Blackbeard and the local Maritime Museum featuring him has created interest among adults like myself and children. In
Beaufort nearby there is even a Blackbeard tour to one of his many homes. 

A subject like Blackbeard can ignite interest in reading for children. Children need to be excited again about reading.   As a former teacher I saw children being turned off on reading by dull books and stories. Teaching reluctant readers this was really too evident and sad. Please allow me the chance to help the children.

Please send me a new author packet since I am interested in writing on assignment.

The city of New Bern where I live is alive with history, having over one hundred historical homes and many important and interesting characters.

I enjoy learning with the children and then passing along that information to kids. My favorite subjects are history and famous people but I’ve written about countries, authors, health and science. I always find fascinating facts in my research and children I have taught and tutored have become entranced with some of the topics. Right now I am privileged to be a school volunteer with remedial readers. So I enjoy kid-testing the stories too.

I am a  member of SCBWI and local writers groups.

I am very interested in writing books for middle elementary as this is the age group I have taught the most; however, I have taught and can write for the younger students having taught second grade for two years. I am open to writing for your company in whatever way you might want.
